LBD and power tools – we can have it all
Here we are – at the threshold of another holiday season. Three things come to mind each year – shopping: what to wear to that next cocktail party, giving: making your list and checking it twice, and preparation: last minute household holiday touchups. This issue of MOST should help you with all of this and more.
We have some fabulous ideas for your next cocktail party. Resident foodie Susan Brockhus-Strickler has created an amazing cheese tray with wine-pairing suggestions (on page 40). The appetizers and cocktails, on page 42 and 47 respectively, add the finishing touch.
If you’re not throwing a cocktail party you will most likely be attending one – see page 48 for some fabulous hostess gifts.
Our cover model, Stacey Canacas, is wearing a gorgeous Little Black Dress (LBD) from Le Crème – an inspiration to all of us to own at least one (or two). Searching out LBDs for our fashion department (on page 30) was easier than expected. We found gorgeous styles, fabrics and lengths for every age and body type at various shops around the region. Debra Joseph – our fashion consultant and owner of FAB - Favourite Accessory Boutique, supplied and arranged accessories for each dress – making everything come together beautifully.
Of course the holidays wouldn’t be complete without festive décor. On page 26, learn how to create your own wreath to adorn your door. And while each tree ornament you may own has a significant meaning, page 24 offers some new ones to add and to give.
Prepping for the holidays is another story – literally. On page 56, the do-it-yourself article tells of new tools on the market that are specially designed for women. Pink hammers with an embedded magnet for the nail, paintbrushes that can be cleaned in the dishwasher and tape measures with actual fractions written on them. Ladies start your miter saw – there’s no reason why those long-wished-for renos can’t get done before the holidays now!
MOST magazine has had such wonderful response from readers and advertisers we have decided to publish six times a year. Watch for MOST on our website – www.mostwaterlooregion.com and in selected bookstores on alternating months, beginning in February 2009 to coincide with The Total Woman Show, held at Bingemans on February 14.
Everyone at MOST would like to wish you and your family a happy and safe holiday season.
As always we enjoy hearing from you, let us know what you would like to see in upcoming issues.
Until next time
